A dedicated Certified Public Accountant, Gary has been practicing in Corpus Christi since 1977. He is licensed in insurance and securities. His diverse experience and expansive knowledge is a true benefit to his clients.
In 1978 he obtained his CPA designation and became partner with the firm of White, Bemis, and Sluyter, in Corpus Christi. In 1980, he established his own firm, which today remains as Whittington & Hubbard. In addition, in 2008 he purchased the CPA firm of Bruce Seidel in Alice, Texas, which operates today as Seidel, Whittington & Company,
An active leader in student government at Southwest Texas State University as well as a varsity football player, Gary graduated with highest honors in 1976 with a BBA in Accounting. Not only was he deeply involved in his university, the TKE Social Fraternity, and the Alpha Chi Honor Fraternity during his college days, but he has also continued to be an avid supporter of the university to this day. He was formerly the President of the Southwest Texas State Alumni Association, Board Member of the Bobcat Club, Treasurer of the Southwest Texas State University Development Foundation, South Texas Representative of the 100-year Centennial Campaign in 1999 for Texas State, and Endowed Donor of both the Accounting Department at Texas State's McCoy School of Business and the Athletic Department through the establishment of the J. Ryan Whittington Leadership Academy.
His leadership roles include major shareholder and Director of Commerce Bank Texas, Kulabyte Technologies, Clearpath Marketing, and Texas Next Capital, as well as positions with numerous civic and nonprofit organizations.
Gary was born and raised in Bishop, Texas. He and his wife, Mary, are proud parents of Ryan, Ashley, and Amanda.
